1. Andreas Sitorego, Dry Soul, (Greece-2004) 3.00
Andreas Sitorego was born in 1972 in Sienna, Italy. He studied painting, engraving and sculpture at the workshops of D. Mitaras, T. Patraskides and G. Lappas at the Athens School of Fine Arts. During 1998-1999 he received a scholarship from the Lillian Voudouris Foundation to attend cinematography and video art under D. Kozaris at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bergamo (Italy). In 1995 he attended a four-month course at the Winchester School of Fine Arts receiving an ERASMUS scholarship from the Greek Foundation of State Scholarships. In 2003 he completed his two-year post-graduate studies on digital forms of art, at the Athens School of Fine Arts. Since 2001 he has presented his work (video, installations, sculpture and painting) in many group exhibitions in Greece, Italy, Turkey and Japan. He lives and works in Athens.
2. Panayota Tzamourani, Golden Cage, (Greece-2006) 2.00
Panayota Tzamourani was born in 1973 in Kalamata, Greece. She studied Sculpture in George Lappas’ workhop at the Athens School of Fine Arts in Athens (1994-2000). In 1999 she was the winner of the 1st DESTE Award, DESTE Foundation Center for Contemporary Art, Athens. She has presented her work in two solo exhibitions in Athens: “2+2 = 5†in Stigma Gallery (along with Dimitris Tzamouranis) and “Training the Past†in Batagianni Gallery. Her works have also been presented in various group exhibitions and festivals, among them in group exhibitions at the DESTE Foundation in Athens and in the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. Her work includes sculptures, installations and video, focusing mainly on video. “My works are rich in audio and visual information, and though they are about reality, they dissolve it into abstract views. They change the familiar into the unpredictableâ€. She lives and works in Athens.
3. Gioula Papadopoulou, Dramaticul, (Greece-2004) 3.45
Gioula Papadopoulou was born in Athens in 1974. She studied Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1998-2001) and Video Art at the School of Fine Arts of Barcelona (2000, Socrates/Erasmus program). She holds an MA in Digital Arts from the Athens School of Fine Arts (2002-2004). She has also studied Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art at the School of Graphic Arts and Art Studies, TEI of Athens (1991-1997) and currently attends Theatre Studies in Athens School of Philosophy. She has been awarded a National Scholarship of Excellence for her MA degree in Digital Arts (2005), a National Scholarship for postgraduate studies in Visual Arts-New Media (2007) and a Distinction at the Yannis & Zoe Spyropoulos Foundation annual competition for emerging contemporary Greek artists (Athens, 2002). She has presented her work in several group exhibitions and festivals in Greece, Italy, France, Sweden and China. She is a co-member and curator of Video Art Festival Miden, Kalamata, Greece.
4. Nikolaos Podias, Sleeping Beauty, (Switzerland-2003) 4.00
Nikolaos Podias was born in Thessaloniki in 1974. He graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts in 1999, where he studied painting at the studio of D. Mitaras and scenography at the studio of G. Ziakas. In 2001 he concluded his postgraduate studies in scenography, at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London and at the Hochschule fur Gestaltung und Kunst in Zurich, with a scolarship of the Onassis Foundation. He has presented his work in various group shows in Greece and abroad and has collaborated in group projects and theatre performances. He lives and works in Volos, Greece.
5. Nikos Papadimitriou, Lolita, (Greece-2003) 6.43
Nikos Papadimitriou was born in 1971 in Chios, Greece. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts painting and printmaking. He followed an MA course in Visual Communication at Kent Institute of Art & Design (MA in Visual Communication), Kent, England and he studied at Edinburgh College of Art with Erasmus scholarship. He has presented his work in 6 solo shows in Greece: Non places, TinT gallery, Thessaloniki (2007), Gallery trophy, AD gallery, Athens (2007), The first Universe (mapping my house series), AD gallery, Athens (2005), Centre of Contemporary Art of Rhodes – Museum of Modern Greek Art, Medieval Town, Rhodes (2003), Figure – Space – Image, Alekton, Athens & Mylos, Thessaloniki (2002), Figures in Space, Public Gallery of Chios (1996). He has also exhibited his work in many group exhibitions, biennials and festivals in Greece, UK, Germany, Israel, Portugal, Serbia etc. He lives and works in Athens. His work belongs to private collections, Public Gallery of Chios and installations can be viewed at hotels 21, Periscope and Intercontinental in Athens.
6. Niki Bisylla, Domestic Flirtation, (UK-2004) 2.02
Niki Bisylla studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts and continued her studies with an MFA in Visual Arts and New Media at Chelsea College of Art & Design (2003-2004) with a funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), London. She has presented her work in various group shows in Greece and UK. She mainly focuses on photography. Photographic works of Niki Bisylla were included in the recent exhibition “I create, therefore I am†at the Center of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki, Greece (2008-09).
7. Margarita Stavraki, Shall We Dance? Fragments of Love, (Greece-2003) 2.50
Margarita Stavraki was born in 1973. She is a visual artist with theoretical and practical interest in space, image and myth. She holds a Master’s degree in Arts and Scenography from London Institute – Central Saint Martins/ department of Utrecht School of the Arts (Netherlands) with specialization in New Media from HGK Zurich (Switzerland). She completed her first studies in Fine Arts in the Athens School of Fine Arts (Greece) and in Academia di Belle Arti, Brera, in Milan (Italy). She was awarded the scholarship of the “Association of Friends of Music†(Greece) for her post-graduate studies. During the last years she is working on her research “Space in the era of new media†in the National Technical University of Athens, NTUA, School of Architecture. She participates actively in several international and Greek exhibitions, festivals and events, she collaborates with theatrical, dance and music groups which make use of new media and she also curates events based on video. She is co-member and curator of Video Art Festival Miden, Kalamata, Greece.
8. George Vaviloussakis, Lie, (Greece-2004) 3.00
George Vaviloussakis was born in Chios in 1970. He studied Fine Arts at the Athens School of Fine Arts in Greece and “Magazine Production & Design†at the Central Saint Martins College of London, UK. He has been awarded with the First Award in 2002 EVGE annual design awards for his design in music album covers. Since 2003, he gives tutorials in digital media development at the A’ Lab of Athens School of Fine Arts. His work involves painting, photography, digital images and video. He has presented a solo exhibition in 2005 at Art Forum Gallery / Tsatsis Projects, Thessaloniki, Greece and has participated in many group shows and festivals in Greece, Germany, France, Spain, Russia and China.
9. Evangelia Basdekis, Art Is Beautiful, (UK-2003) 5.10
Evangelia Basdekis was born in 1972 in Athens. She studied Fine Arts at De Montfort University, UK (1999-2002) and she completed her MFA in University of Lincoln, UK (2002-03). She continued her studies with a Monitoring Scheme with Franko B, London (2005-06). She has presented her work in a solo exhibition (AD Gallery, Athens GR) and in many group exhibitions and festivals in Greece and abroad (UK, Austria, Serbia-Montenegro, Russia, Turkey, Japan, US, etc). She has also presented solo public exhibitions (performances and public actions) in Sheffield and Lincoln, UK. In 1999 she was awarded a 1st Prize from the Public Central Library of Chalkis, GR, and in 2006 she received the ArtsAdmin Career Artists Bursary in London. She lives and works in Athens and London.
10. Giorgos Dimitrakopoulos, Abort It, (Greece-2000) 8.00
Giorgos Dimitrakopoulos was born in 1977. He studied Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) under professors N. Kessanlis and D. Sakelion. His work engages visual arts, music and writing. He has worked as a cultural editor and he is the Senior Editor of the weekly cultural newspaper “Stin Brizaâ€. He is the founder and art director of Video Art Festival Miden, based in Kalamata, Greece. He lives and works in Kalamata.
11. Orestes Charos, Αlienation, (Greece-2007) 2.12
Orestes Charos was born in Paris in 1973. He studied Sculpture at the “Ecole nationale Superieure Des Beaux Arts†in Paris, under Richard Deacon (1994-2000). In 1998 he attended The School of Fine Arts in Berlin (HOCHSCHULE DER KUNSTE) under Professor Karl- Heinz Biederbick. He has presented his work in group exhibitions in Athens and Thessaloniki (GR) and Paris (FR). He lives and works in Athens.
12. Yiannis Isidοrou, Ecstatic segment #1, (Greece-2007) 5.00
Yiannis Isidorou studied at Focus School of Photography in Athens (1989-1992). He is a multi-disciplinary contemporary artist and his practice spans a broad range of media including, photography, video, sound design and installation. He is co-founder and editor of the Greek e-magazine happyfew.gr, on politics, philosophy and art. In 2004 he established Vortex Studio, an independent art space and seminar center where he teaches photography and video. In collaboration with a group of artists, he runs intothepill.net, an independent self-sustaining project and web based platform for experimental film making. 13. Danae Milonaki, The Wig, (UK-2008) 3.23
Danae Milonaki was born in 1971. She studied sculpture at the workshop of Th. Papayiannis, in Athens School of Fine Arts-ASFA (BA honours). She also holds an MA in sculpture from Surrey University, 2002, and an MA in Ceramics and Glass from Royal College, London, 2004. She works as a lab collaborator at the Technological Education Institute (TEI) of Athens and as a Lecturer at the University of Ioannina, Greece. She has exhibited her work at Royal College of Art, London, Technopolis and Kilindromili Sarantopoulos, Athens, and Orange Door Gallery, Paros, Greece. Her artistic practice includes basically installations with videos and objects. Her interest is focused in everyday life, adopting a clear and simple form of expression.
14. Nikos Giavropoulos, Pandora, (Greece – 2005) 5.00
Nikos Giavropoulos was born in Thessaloniki in 1971. He studied scenography at Stavrakos School in Greece. He has worked as a scenographer in short films and in theatre and dance performances. In 1999 he received a 1st award for his video “Madonna†at the Festival of Art and Technology “Mediaterraâ€, Fournos, Athens. He has presented 4 solo exhibitions at Fournos-Centre for Art & Technology in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. He has also presented his work in many group exhibitions, festivals and events in Greece, Spain, Bulgaria, Romania, Germany, India, Brazil, USA, Austria, Turkey, Serbia, Italy, UK, Sweden, etc.
